LONERIDER SPIRITS RELEASES ITS FIRST BOURBON WHISKEY
New spirit launches across all 100 counties in North Carolina; eight other states to follow
RALEIGH, N.C. (OCTOBER 4, 2018) – Lonerider Spirits, sister craft distillery of award-winningLonerider Brewing Company, today unveiled its sherry cask finish bourbon whiskey. Raleigh’s first-in-market bourbon whiskey is now available at ABC stores and restaurants and bars across North Carolina, with expansion planned next year to the eight other states where Lonerider Brewing already has a presence.
Lonerider Spirits’ first high-end spirit, Sherry Cask Finish Whiskey (45% ABV, SRP $39.95), is a hand-crafted high rye bourbon whiskey with a mash bill of 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley (all non-GMO). The limited-edition whiskey is 90 proof (vs. the standard 80 proof) to ensure it maintains its bold flavor profile when mixed in cocktails.
Lonerider spirits are held to the same high quality standards as the Lonerider beers that have gained a cult following since their introduction in 2009. Notes of candied fruit and toffee on the nose, waffle cone and cacao in the body, and a peppery oak finish make for a special small- batchspirit intended to usher in a new age of whiskey. Symbolically, the whiskey’s label is as irreverent as those of its counterpart beers.
“The maverick look and feel of the Lonerider Spirits brand and products translates well toward today’s new audience of modern whiskey drinkers,” said Chris Mielke, president of Lonerider Spirits, who visited 50 distilleries across the U.S. before co-founding the venture. “We aren’t trying to appeal to the old-school whiskey snobs, but instead to those who are open to trying new things and enjoy great tasting, quality, premium whiskey from a local craft provider.”
Lonerider Spirits has other spirits planned for 2019, and the distillery continues to create unique recipes to follow those from its award-winning beers such as Sweet Josie Brown Ale. A recent Kickstarter campaign raised more than $25,000 to support product launch efforts.
