Cotton Reed SpiritsParticipantDistiller – Job Description
Position: Rum Distiller
Cotton & Reed, DC’s rum distillery, looking to hire a highly experienced distiller to lead our production operations. If you’re as excited as we are about taking on the country’s most under-appreciated spirits category, this is the job for you. Every day we change people’s minds about rum, highlighting its complexities and its possibilities with unusual fermentations, top-quality ingredients, and truly original botanical macerations. Now we need a full-time distiller to help meet rapidly growing demand.
Being a distiller is more than making great tasting spirits. The Cotton & Reed team is growing quickly and needs someone who enjoys wearing many different hats and is willing to step up in unexpected ways. Your expertise and enthusiasm for rum, fermentation, quality control, and filtration will maintain our rums’ reputation for excellence and originality. Your professional demeanor and managerial experience will make sure the proper supplies and ingredients are in stock, we never run out of a primary SKU, and the needs of the tasting room staff, event planner, and sales personnel are met.
This is a full-time salaried position. The distiller may need to work early mornings, late nights, and/or weekends as the production schedule requires.
The distiller is responsible for maintaining a “tour-ready” facility after production shifts, maintaining inventory levels of both inputs and outputs, performing general maintenance, maintaining safety standards, and regularly filing TTB paperwork.
