Royal Foundry Craft Spirits, a New British-Inspired Distillery, Sets Sights on December Opening in Minneapolis’ West Market Neighborhood

Distillery to Feature Cycle Speedway and Dynamic Cocktail Room with English Vibe

MINNEAPOLIS— December 3, 2018 – Royal Foundry Craft Spirits is a brand-new Minneapolis distillery that is bringing a British spirit to the West Market District this winter to create and pour cocktails forged in the traditions of the British Isles.

Brilliant Space, Cracking Sport

The 15,000-square-foot distillery at 241 Fremont Avenue North is slated to open in December and will feature the largest cocktail room in the Twin Cities, as well as the Crown Room for private tastings, a gaming area and a 2,800+ square-foot event space to host curated private celebrations, corporate gatherings and more.

Outside, Royal Foundry’s backyard is highlighted by a 70-meter cycle racetrack — set to open Summer 2019 — to host league and semi-pro bicycle competitions in the vein of the traditional English sport of Cycle Speedway. Meanwhile, indoors, the venue will line up 9-pin Skittles — a British pub game similar to bowling.

Royal Foundry will feature a dynamic interior that will present a balance of a British industrial space coupled with traditional pub-like aspects — and a few contemporary twists. This aesthetic will be carried through in various design elements across the location, from the walls to the bar to the still.

“Our vision is to create a venue that will be an inviting and authentic social scene, and we can’t wait to open our doors to meet and serve our neighbors,” said Nikki McLain, Co-Founder, and Chief Marketing Officer of Royal Foundry. “The support of the community will help us build a Royal Foundry family.”

The Drink

The new craft distillery is led by Co-Founder and Chief Distiller Andy McLain, who previously gained experience by training at distilleries in Colorado and New York. McLain has also gained hands-on insights through tours of Scotland’s premier distilleries.

McLain’s parents are both English, and he points to his family’s influence, as well as his experience living overseas, as the thrust behind the British concept of Royal Foundry.

“We are a Minneapolis distillery with a British spirit that will come to life through our drinks and the customer experience, including the vibe, the décor and the service,” said McLain.

Royal Foundry will announce more specifics on its cocktail program and spirits as the venue develops.
