ACSA Membership FAQ

ACSA has several different membership opportunities:

  • Voting Members – Any DSP (Distilled Spirits Plant) that produces fewer than 750,000 proof gallons remove from bond, subscribes to ACSA’s code of ethics, and has no more than 25% ownership by an entity that produces more than 750,000 proof gallons.
  • Candidate Members – An individual business that is actively pursuing a DSP license.
  • Affiliate Members – Any individual business that does not qualify for voting membership, but wishes to be a part of the ACSA community.
  • Advocate Members – An individual, non-voting membership for students or enthusiasts who are not a part of a business nor working toward a DSP.

Advocacy in Action 

  • Legislative Advocacy: ACSA champions the needs of craft spirits producers on Capitol Hill and beyond, improving the business climate for independent distillers on federal, state, and local levels. ACSA’s efforts have led to major wins—most notably the passage of long-term federal excise tax reform, saving craft distillers thousands each year.
  • Quarterly Advocacy Report: Get exclusive, members-only access to updates on ACSA’s legislative and regulatory efforts, as well as ways you can make a difference.
  • Voting Rights (for Voting Members): Help shape the future of the industry by electing ACSA’s Board of Directors, comprised of craft spirits producers.
  • Committee Involvement: All members are eligible to serve on ACSA committees to help drive the initiatives that matter most to the craft spirits community.

  • Webinars: Stay informed with complimentary access to timely, expert-led webinars on critical topics for distillers and suppliers.

Yes, ACSA offers a Candidate Membership for those actively pursuing a DSP permit in the United States and you can upgrade your membership upon receipt of your DSP.

To check your membership status, utilize the following steps:

  • Login using your username and password.
  • Click your personal icon in the toolbar at the top of the page (in between notifications and forums).
  • Once in the member portal:
    • click membership
    • click subscriptions

If you cannot access the member portal, your membership has expired. You can renew on the join ACSA page using your original username. For questions, email membership@americancraftspirits.org for more information.

Designated Directors shall be elected by the Voting Members from a list of eligible nominees provided by the Nominating Committee each year. The elections are typically in March with new board members taking their seats in April.

ACSA is always looking for committee volunteers to help within the organization. Click here to volunteer. Note: Must be a Voting, Candidate, Affiliate, Advocate Member or Alumni Member to serve on an ACSA committee. A committee confidentiality agreement is required to serve on any ACSA committee.
