The American Craft Spirits Convention & Expo brings together distillers, suppliers, and industry partners at a time when our industry needs connection, collaboration, and shared solutions more than ever. Since 2014, it has been the annual gathering place to connect, collaborate, explore new products and services, and work together to secure a stronger future for our industry. In 2026, we’re flipping the script on business as usual with a reimagined convention experience designed for today’s challenges and tomorrow’s opportunities.

Caitlin Bartlemay started her career at Clear Creek Distillery in 2010 after finishing her degree in Food Science. She is Clear Creek Distillery’s Master Distiller and passionate and devoted to educating the world on why the story and quality of the spirits in their glass is worth celebrating.

Dr. Gregory Canillas, CEO, Canillas-King
Dr. Gregory Canillas (“Doc”) is the CEO of Canillas-King and a participant in the Long Beach Cannabis Social Equity Program. His work sits at the intersection of consumer behavior, hospitality, and emerging beverage trends, including zero-proof and cannabis-infused drinks. He consults on signature beverage experiences for private, corporate, and hospitality clients, with a focus on cultural storytelling and shifting social rituals around drinking. Dr. Canillas is an Adjunct Professor at Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology, where he teaches clinical marriage and family therapy master’s students, and at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology (Los Angeles), where he teaches master’s- and doctoral-level courses in clinical forensic psychology. He has presented at Tales of the Cocktail, moderated industry panels, and spoken at Portland Cocktail Week and other national beverage conferences.

Christian Deakin, Product Development Manager, BevZero
Christian Deakin grew up on a vineyard in western New York and went on to graduate from Cornell University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and a minor in Enology. He then moved to California where he spent the next eight years working for Gallo; the first four as a research enologist and the next four as a production microbiologist. He joined the BevZero team in 2023 as the product development manager where he now works with clients to bring their custom formulas from concept to bottle, while also developing No & Low alcohol products for BevZero’s White Label program.

Kayla Hasbrook, Director of Sales, Altamar Brands
Kayla Hasbrook is a seasoned spirits professional with deep experience across hospitality, education, and national brand development. After beginning her career in New York City—working with acclaimed programs at ABC Cocina, Pouring Ribbons, and Mayahuel—she transitioned into supplier leadership, bringing her agave and rum expertise to markets across the country. Kayla served as Winebow’s West Coast Spirits Director before moving into a national role with Altamar Brands, where she supports the growth of terroir‑driven portfolios including Lagrimas Tequila, Foursquare Rum Distillery, and Probitas Rum. She has played a key role in launching and scaling respected spirits brands, including Aplos NA, Cazcanes, and G4, along with multiple premium agave and rum expressions within the Altamar portfolio. Her work blends education, market strategy, and storytelling, helping teams and accounts champion thoughtful, family‑owned, and production‑transparent spirits.

Denise Jones, Technical Sales Support Manager, Fermentis
Denise Jones is a Technical Sales Support Manager for Fermentis that specializes in fermentations for distillates and other unique beverages, joining Fermentis in October of 2020. She has 32 years of brewing, distilling and beverage manufacturing experience, and has served as a judge for the Kombucha Brewer’s International competitions, as well as an international beer judge for over 30 years. Denise attended the American Brewer’s Guild in Spring of 1995 and has created award winning beers for Great Basin Brewing Company in Sparks, Nevada, Third Street Aleworks in Santa Rosa, California, and Moylan’s Brewing Company in Novato, California. At Moylan’s, she began making whiskey washes for the sister distillery, Moylan’s Distilling, where she developed flavorful washes, assisted with distillations and barrel maturation decisions. In 2015 she accepted a position in Bamberg, Germany with Weyermann® Specialty Malts to become their Master Distiller/ Staff Brew Master, where she created biers, wines, whiskeys, gins, bier schnapps, and Bavarian fruit brandies. Denise now lives in Northern Nevada and offers technical fermentation support to distillers in North, Central, and South America.

Peter Lijewski, Enlighten Supply Chain, Founder & Former VP of Supply Chain, Breakthru Beverage Group
Peter Lijewski is a supply chain and operations leader in the beverage industry, with experience across both the supplier and distribution tiers. He spent nearly two decades at Constellation Brands, including serving as VP of Global Procurement and VP of Supply and E-Commerce Operations, where he led national and global teams supporting wine and beer portfolios. Most recently, Peter was VP of Supply Chain at Breakthru Beverage Group, where he transformed the organization into a high-performing, center-led operation with integrated planning, supplier collaboration, and data-driven decision-making. He is known for his practical leadership style, focus on safety and quality, and commitment to building engaged, effective teams.

Alex Koral, Regulatory General Counsel, Sovos ShipCompliant
Alex Koral, Regulatory General Counsel, Sovos ShipCompliant Based in Boulder, Colorado, Alex Koral is Regulatory General Counsel for Sovos ShipCompliant, where he serves as lead legal researcher for beverage alcohol regulation and has become a leading expert in DtC shipping laws and interstate distribution of alcohol. He has spoken on the topic at many industry events including ACSA Convention, Craft Brewers Conference, DTC Wine Symposium, as well as meetings for the National Council of State Liquor Administrators and the National Liquor Law Enforcement Association. Alex has been in the beverage alcohol arena since 2015, after receiving his J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School.

Ryan Malkin is managing partner at Malkin Law, a Miami-based firm focusing on beverage and cannabis law. He has extensive experience providing guidance to suppliers, wholesalers, retailers, agencies, and third parties within these regulated industries. Malkin Law is also counsel to the American Craft Spirits Association, Adult Non-Alcoholic Beverage Association, the New York State Distillers Guild and Florida Craft Spirits Association.

Stuart Maxwell, Chief Operating Officer, Proof 8
Stuart Maxwell is the Chief Operating Officer at Proof 8, where his role is to lead the company’s global expansion and ensure its platform continues to solve the most critical operational challenges facing modern distilleries and warehouses today. A former Head of Product, Stuart has been instrumental in shaping the platform to date, with tools like Real-Time Liquid Summaries, Smart Scheduling and Digital Deeds, all of which enable spirits businesses to scale with confidence, reduce compliance risk and improve transparency across every stage of spirits production. Stuart joined Proof 8 from William Grant & Sons, where he spent over a decade mastering all aspects of operations from technical process innovation and liquid supply to maturation.

Shana Metzger, Senior Counsel, Barnes Beverage Group
Shana joined BBG in January 2023 after a diverse legal career, including a supervisory role at the Department of Education and owning her own law firm. Her experience advising clients as external counsel runs the gamut from intellectual property, labor and employment, business and civil litigation, mergers & acquisitions, trial preparation, contract review and drafting, software licensing, and government procurement. Shana also managed the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks, a team in the futures collegiate baseball league, driving real change in the organization from a six-figure deficit to a surplus in only two seasons. While there, she perfected her skills of project and team management – she knows what it’s like to run and manage a budget.

Susan Mooney, Founder/CEO, Spirits Consulting Group
As the founder and CEO of Spirits Consulting Group (SCG), Susan has worked with founders and key stakeholders to create winning digital strategies and implement compliant, successful ecommerce solutions. SCG’s clients include multinational organizations, entrepreneurial ventures and craft distilleries with products ranging from artisanal spirits to non-alc, functional beverages, Coffee and RTDs. At SCG, Susan combines an understanding of emerging consumer trends with strong business acumen and a deep understanding of how to utilize emerging technologies to drive real business impact. She has worked with more than 80 brands on strategy, launch and growth. She recently contributed a chapter on ecommerce best practices to the updated ACSA Guide to Starting and Operating a Distillery.

David Morgan, National Sales Director, Sugarlands Distilling Company
David Morgan is the National Sales Director for Sugarlands Distilling Company, where he leads the brand’s national sales strategy and distributor relationships across the United States. He joined Sugarlands in 2023 as a Regional Sales Manager and was promoted to National Sales Director within a year. In his current role, David has restructured and streamlined Sugarlands’ national sales organization, helping position the company for continued growth and expanded distribution across its portfolio of award-winning house of spirits, which includes Sugarlands Shine, Sugarlands Sippin’ Creams, High Rock Vodka, the critically-acclaimed Roaming Man Tennessee Rye Whiskey and Broken Antler Flavored Whiskey. Before joining Sugarlands, David spent more than a decade with Mexcor in San Antonio, beginning as a sales representative and rising to General Sales Manager for the state of Texas, and later to Vice President of the Package Store Division, also overseeing the Louisiana market. A graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio, David is known for building high-performing teams and strong relationships throughout the spirits industry. Outside of work, David enjoys spending time with his wife, Rebecca, and their three children, and remains active in his church and mentoring young leaders.

Jeremy Murrell, Founder, Morpheus
Jeremy Murrell founded Morpheus to help brand stop guessing about marketing and start growing. With over 25 years of experience in marketing, market research and behavioral science – including two decades of shaping some of the world’s most iconic spirits brands – I’ve seen firsthand how a clear marketing strategy can transform a brand’s growth trajectory. At Brown-Forman I worked on brands that include Jack Daniel’s, Woodford Reserve, Old Forester, Herradura tequila and a variety of RTDs to define brand positioning, craft marketing strategies and uncover opportunities for growth. I believe in an approach that combines the science of research with the art of creative storytelling that helps brands uncover what makes them unique, how to connect with consumers more deeply, and ultimately grow with confidence

Mike O’Gorman, Senior Partner, Barnes Beverage Law
Mike brings special value to clients who are launching new products, particularly those falling outside traditional commodity definitions, as Mike has significant experience advising client teams in innovation and new product development. The passion for alcohol beverage innovation, from both consumer and legal perspectives, drives Mike to find creative solutions for his clients. He also advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, establishing contract brewing and alternating proprietorships, compliance with various regulatory schemes, federal and state licensing, and excise tax compliance. Mike began his career in private practice before serving as Regulatory Counsel for Craft Brew Alliance, where he served as primary legal counsel to the company’s New Products Development team and innovation business unit, the pH Experiment.

Martin Pazzani, CO-CEO, Unbound Spirits Brands
Martin Pazzani is a former corporate Chairman & CEO, a TED Speaker, a mountaineer and explorer with summits on all seven continents, a serial entrepreneur and author, who has worked in the spirits industry since 1979. At Heublein (now Diageo), he rose from entry-level Senior Marketing Analyst through Strategic Planning roles and then to the top marketing spot in the company over 14 years, managing brands and leading brand management for Smirnoff Vodka, Jose Cuervo Tequila, Black Velvet Canadian Whisky, Inglenook and Almaden wines, Famous Grouse and Highland Park Scotch, Yukon Jack, and many others. More recently he’s the Co-Founder of a celebrated, luxury craft tequila brand — extra anejo Tears of Llorona — which was Beverage Testing Institute Tequila of the Year in 2025. And now he owns several small batch, craft brands through the newly founded Unbound Spirits Brands in Wisconsin, where their super-premium offerings — The Maelstrom Bourbon, Hooligan Soup Irish Whiskey, Icebound Vodka, HoldFast Bourbon,and Les Terribles Bourbon — are all award-winning and scaling into broader distribution.

Maria Pearman, CPA, Food and Beverage Practice Leader, GHJ
Maria is an expert in the beverage alcohol industry, who provides accounting and advisory services to clients. She specializes in internal accounting processes, financial reviews, budgeting, cash flow forecasting, financial strategy and succession planning. Prior to joining GHJ in 2021, Maria built a national practice focused on beverage alcohol. She helped clients improve financial results and maximize efficiency of operations, guiding them through ownership transitions.

Chris Underwood, CEO, Young’s Holdings
Chris Underwood has dedicated his career working for Young’s Market Company (a subsidiary of Young’s Holdings), one of the largest wine and spirits distributors in the U.S.. Starting in the Los Angeles warehouse in 1996, he went on to become the Chief Executive Officer starting in 2011. As the fifth generation to lead Young’s Market Company, Chris oversaw all Young’s Market’s business operations. With the joint venture with RNDC in 2019, the Young’s Market operations were transferred to the RNDC Management team. Chris currently serves as the CEO of Young’s Holdings and is a member of the Board of the STEPUP Foundation.

Dave Smith, Head Distiller and Blender, St. George Spirits
Dave Smith, head distiller and blender at St. George Spirits, joined the distillery in 2005. In addition to leading the distillery’s production team, Dave also oversees ingredient sourcing, product development, quality control, and mentoring the next generation of distillers at St. George.

Matt Strickland, Master Distiller, Iron City Distilling
Matt is an active teacher in the distilled spirits industry, sitting on the faculty of The Distilled Spirits Epicenter, The Siebel Institute, and Point Park University. He also sits on the Board of Examiners for Distilling at The Institute of Brewing & Distilling. He is an active writer, producing numerous technical scripts for industry publications such as Distiller Magazine, Artisan Spirit, and Brewer Distiller International and regularly contributes to Whisky Magazine. He has written two books for distillers, Cask Management for Distillers (White Mule Press, 2020) and Batch Distillation: Science and Practice (White Mule Press, 2021). His new book Whiskey: From Grain to Glass will be published in early 2026. Currently Matt is the Master Distiller for Iron City Distilling in Creighton Pennsylvania where he focuses on historically accurate rye whiskey production.

Rox Tiburolobo, Technical Sales Manager, Lallemand Biofuels & Distilled Spirits
Rox Tiburolobo is an award-winning brewer and distiller who has spent over a decade in the alcohol production industry. With an education in bioscience microscopy and molecular toxicology, they originally worked in biotech before making the jump to craft brewing that eventually transitioned into a career in distilled spirits production. While predominantly specializing in whiskey and grain spirits, they have experience in producing a wide range of products from their time in the contract distillation sector. Heather Wibbels, Mixologist and Whiskey Educator
Heather Wibbels is a whiskey educator, award-winning mixologist, and Executive Bourbon Steward based in Louisville, Kentucky. Known as the Cocktail Contessa, she is the author of Bourbon Is My Comfort Food: The Bourbon Women Guide to Fantastic Cocktails at Home, which was featured in Forbes and praised for its approachable education and creativity. Heather is a former Managing Director and Board Chair of Bourbon Women and has judged for major spirits competitions including ASCOT, ADI, World Whiskies Awards, and ACSA. Her work focuses on helping both consumers and brands build deeper connections through guided sensory experiences, flight design, and story-driven whiskey education. Her writing and cocktail creations appear in publications such as American Whiskey Magazine, The Bourbon Review, Bourbon+, Drinkhacker, and Food & Dining, where she is a regular columnist.Through her brands Cocktail Contessa and Bourbon Fluent, Heather creates educational content, sensory programming, and cocktail strategy for distilleries, tourism organizations, and whiskey enthusiasts across the country. She believes every whiskey tells a story—and when education and flavor align, consumers build loyalty one sip at a time.

Damien Wilson, Faculty Director, Sonoma State University’s Wine Business Institute
Damien Wilson was appointed in June 2025 as the Faculty Director with Sonoma State University’s Wine Business Institute. This new leadership role follows on from his arrival in August 2015 as the inaugural Hamel Family Chair of Wine Business for SSU. Dr Wilson arrived in California with 20 years of professional experience across the wine sector. He joined the Wine Business Institute from the triple accredited Burgundy School of Business, where he launched the leading MSc in Wine Business Program in 2008, after having started his career as an academic with the University of South Australia in 1999. Dr Wilson’s research background started with the prestigious Wine Marketing Research Group, where he worked with a client list, extending from global organizations such as Pernod-Ricard and the Fosters group, through to generic bodies and boutique wine producers. His professional and research interests have realized an extensive list of trade, consumer and academic publications, with this article on wine purchasing behavior realizing more than 21000 views in less than a week, and a Meininger’s Wine Business International article on premiumization, which captured more than 5000 views in the first 48 hours after publication. He also writes prolifically on regionality and conjunctive labeling, tourism and technology, with a regular Op-Ed piece with the Wine Industry Network’s Advisor column. Dr Wilson’s revealing publication on conjunctive labelling led to invitations to present at that year’s Oregon Wine Symposium, where he engaged an audience of more than 500 to respond to queries on their on-going marketing challenges in emergent grape variety selection. Dr. Wilson focuses most of his research on finding solutions to the challenges facing the wine industry in the modern environment. As heard recently on San Francisco’s KCBS radio station, Dr. Wilson is both aware of the challenges, and also providing solutions for wine producers to make the changes necessary to adapt to the modern wine business environment.

Kelly Woodcock, Consultant
Kelly Woodcock serves as a consultant for the spirits industry focusing on bringing direct paths to consumers for spirits companies previously not done in the industry. Previously, she worked at Westward Whiskey for over 13 years as Vice President and Oregon General Manager. In her role, Kelly oversaw direct to consumer (DtC) programs while also leading Westward’s hospitality operations at three locations: the Westward Whiskey Distillery tasting room and the two Westward Whiskey outlets at Portland International Airport (PDX). She concepted and launched the Westward Whiskey Club, the first-ever U.S. distillery subscription club that offered four exclusive distillery releases per year. Kelly and her team managed inventory, hiring, training, staffing, and customer service for guests and club members. For over a decade,. Kelly led the development and execution of the company’s immersive brand experience at Portland International Airport concourse C, the world’s first craft distillery airport tasting room when it opened to the public in 2016.

Volunteer at ACSA Convention & Expo
In 2026, the American Craft Spirits Association (ACSA) is introducing a Convention Volunteer Program designed to strengthen community engagement while offering an opportunity for distillers and industry professionals to participate in the convention who might otherwise be unable to attend.
Benefits to Volunteers
In exchange for a minimum of four volunteer hours, convention volunteers will receive:
